Univeristy of Suffolk to host EDRU Training Camp

1 month ago By PR & Media Department

Competition for places are heating up as EDRU men and women come together this weekend to take part in a collaborative training camp in Ipswich.

Hosted at the University of Suffolk, Men's Head Coach Sean Fletcher, and women's Head Coach Ben Mousley, will be putting the players through their paces alongside the support of the University of Suffolks' Performance HUB staff this Saturday 15th November.

As the men's team gears up for an important fixture against close rivals Wales Deaf in January, and the women's team prepare for a fixture against a yet to be announced opponent, the importance of staking a claim for an international shirt couldn't be any clearer.

Fletcher said "We have had an increasing level of competition for places over the past few years, but this time it's gone up a notch even further. After such a successful season last year for both our men's and women's squads, we have been inundated with new players who hope to pull on the rose and represent England Deaf Rugby this season.

The EDRU Head Coach added "Alongside Ben [Mousley] and Sagey [Graham Sage - Assistant Coach], we are looking forward to getting the players together for what will be an important but very valuable training camp this weekend."

"In addition to training, EDRU will welcome a number of young deaf children along to the day's activities, to take part in a coaching session and also meet the England Deaf Players throughout the day, whilst we will also host a celebratory presentation in the evening to applaud the successes of the past 12 months."
